Our client is seeking a Project Engineer to join their team. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational and planning skills, leadership abilities, and a high ethical standard. Lead assigned capital projects (standalone projects and projects within plant outages) and handle all engineering, design, and construction resources. Develop estimates, funding documents, schedule, and ongoing forecasts for plant implemented projects within SAP. Ensure all projects receive adequate process hazard reviews and ORI's and that all recommendations are completed timely. Ensure inherent process safety is adhered to on all project designs. Provide field supervision/support during projects execution. Lead Project Safety. Maintain projects on budget and schedule. Verify all projects meet the operability needs of the customer. Basic understanding of operating plant environment. Understands quality standards as outlined by company standards.
Safety responsibilities include conducting Safety Kickoff Meetings with contractors and operations team prior to start of project execution, confirming contractor is aware of and follows all AP Safety Standards, clearly communicating safety goals – 0 Recordables, 0 First Aids, and completing short-term contractor BSP forms daily during execution of project. Complete JSA reviews and fill out JSA Review form daily during execution of project. Participate in the Safe Work Permit issuance process with the operations team. Lead daily morning safety/toolbox meetings with all crafts. Report all incidents immediately. Ensure all contractors on site for project execution have submitted an Emergency Action Plan prior to mobilization. Participate in Safety Sampling and Critical Safety Audits during outages. Attend and contribute to monthly Safety Meetings.
Performance standard includes willingness to work a wide variety of scheduled days and hours, following strict fatigue management guidelines. Traveling within the West Region may be required as much as 25-45% depending on project. Able to work without close supervision. Work professionally and harmoniously with co-workers, supervisors, management, support personnel, program participants, and business-related persons. Use positive and constructive attitude toward resolution of problems and conflicts. Accept direction, criticism, and supervision. Demonstrate ability to remain calm in demanding situations. Ability to work within and promote a teamwork philosophy. Make good use of time, completing assigned workload in a timely manner. Ability to demonstrate and perform efficiently and reliably all categories of this document.
Required abilities and conduct include achieving various State mandated certifications (TWIC, OSHA, etc.) and other requirements as may be deemed necessary. Prioritize "Zero is achievable" safety policy in words and actions to protect self, others and the environment. High ethical standards – not willing to compromise on worker safety and regulatory compliance requirements. Demonstrates positive, supportive, and cooperative behavior in interacting with co-workers, supervisors, and management. Maintains confidentiality of written and verbal information pertaining to the company, its staff, management and participating onsite affiliates.
Qualifications include a technical degree (chemical engineering or mechanical engineering preferred), professional engineer preferred, strong leadership abilities, organizational and planning skills, manufacturing plant operations, maintenance, and capital projects experience, examples of being a role model within Project Engineering function, highest of ethical standards and unwilling to compromise on all worker safety and regulatory compliance requirements, organizational credibility – able to influence business area, engineering and manufacturing managers in the way we make decisions, 5-10 years' experience in maintenance and/or engineering fields, ability to travel within West Region 25-45% of the time depending on assigned workload, and obtain TWIC, passport, and pass refinery background checks.
