Senior Test & Validation Engineer

The Surveillance Metrology Operations team is responsible for the calibration and management of measurement and test equipment across the Raytheon Surveillance organization. The Metrology Operations' Primary Standards Laboratory is seeking a Senior Test & Validation Engineer with a strong interest in fiber optic power, photometry, optical radiometry, and power and energy electro-optical metrology sciences.

What You Will Do

  • Coordinate and collaborate with Raytheon associates to perform equipment calibrations, ensuring compliance with contractual, government and industry standards for measurement and test equipment
  • Collect and analyze measurement data to verify compliance with technical specifications and quality standards. Draft calibration reports and presented results in a clear, customer-focused format to meet specific client requirements.
  • Develop and document detailed calibration procedures for equipment and instruments to ensure accuracy, repeatability, and compliance with industry standards.
  • Perform uncertainty analysis in verifying the adequacy and reliability of a measurement process.
  • To analyze the calibration needs of Raytheon and develop a plan to accommodate them, to continue servicing the calibration needs of Raytheon's production, operations, regulatory environment, and the importance of precision in their systems.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in electro-optical metrology sciences
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Candidates with a master's degree in physics or mechanical engineering are strongly preferred.
  • Hands-on experience using advanced electro-optical test equipment and calibration experience comparing the unit under test against traceable standards to ensure measurement accuracy and compliance with technical specifications.
  • Understanding the calibration requirements in relation to NCSL/ANSI Z540-1 and ISO 17025 is preferred to maintain quality and compliance in the aerospace and defense industries.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills and the ability to develop a solution.
  • Ability to work independently or as a member of a team depending on the situation.

The salary range for this role is 112,000 USD - 224,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
