This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. ARTs are part of the regular career civil service and enjoy all the benefits granted to Federal employees in the competitive civil service. In addition, ARTs are required to maintain their active membership in the AF Reserve unit where assigned. ARTs receive on average one weekend of military training per month.
Responsibilities: The primary purpose of this position is to serve as an Air Reserve Technician (ART) that installs, inspects, troubleshoots, tests, repairs, modifies, overhauls, services, and dispatches powered and non-powered aerospace ground support equipment. To train reservists in the accomplishment of tasks set forth herein.

Requirements: In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C for WG-5300 Industrial Equipment Maintenance Family. The screen out element for this position is the ability to do the work of an Power Support System Mechanic with little to no supervision.

Other significant facts: This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. The incumbent is required to meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements. Work schedule will be aligned to allow incumbent to fully participate in unit training assemblies (UTA). The incumbent's regular assignments are ART duties however, the incumbent may be assigned some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities. May be required to fly in commercial and military aircraft to perform temporary/permanent duty assignments. Must obtain and retain the appropriate security clearance level designated for the position. Prepare equipment/cargo for shipment This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP). The employee is subject to random drug testing. May be required to instruct lower grade testers in inspection procedures. May be required to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime to meet workload demands. May be required to work off-shifts, i.e. first, second, third shifts in support of 24/7 operations. Must have a valid state driver’s license. Performs other duties as assigned
Environmental factors: May work inside or outside. Inside work involves frequent exposure to drafts, changing temperature, and loud noise. Outside work may involve exposure to bad weather, rain or snow, or wet or icy conditions. Both inside and outside, frequently exposed to irritation or discomfort from dust, heat, fumes, and hard damp floors or surfaces. May work on parts and systems which are dirty and greasy, and which may be dangerous to operate or repair because of defects. Frequently exposed to the possibility of receiving cuts, burns, bruises, strains, and electrical shock while repairing, positioning, adjusting, and moving equipment, and is exposed to the possibility of receiving burns and skin irritations from acids, fluids, and lubricants. To reduce the dangers and irritations from the above conditions, must follow numerous safety procedures and wear equipment such as protective eyeglasses, ear devices, hard hats, safety-toe footwear, respirators, gloves, safety harness, and clothing. Some of these safety items may be uncomfortable to wear or use and may be worn or used for long periods.
Functional requirements: Required to do straight pulling, pushing, walking, standing crawling, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching above shoulders and climbing. Sometimes must work in awkward positions or cramped areas. Heavy lifting (45-79 pounds). Moderate lifting (15-44 pounds). Light lifting (under 15 pounds). Moderate carrying (15-44 pounds). Light carrying (under 15 pounds). Lifting heavier items will require using jacks, hoists, or helpers.
Part-time or unpaid experience: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and/or part-time work.
