The Pharmacy Care Services Paralegal is part of a team responsible for all aspects of legal support for pharmacies at Optum. Team members will work closely with the Deputy General Counsel and their direct reports to manage the escalation and status of complex legal matters. This position requires the ability to communicate and foster relationships with senior business leaders, attorneys, and outside counsel. Candidates must be able to work independently, possess solid analytic skills, solid verbal and written communication skills, have a keen attention to detail and demonstrate an ability to make sound judgment decisions. Previous Legal Operations experience preferred. Only internal candidates' grade level 25 or higher will be considered for this position. You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Spearhead matter management, tracking and reporting of department operations
  • Plan, execute and oversee legal projects from initiation to completion
  • Identify potential legal risks and identify solutions to mitigate them
  • Lead process improvement efforts by analyzing legal department workflows, refining business requirements, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to design and implement scalable, tech-enabled solutions
  • Facilitate effective communication among team members, stakeholders, and clients
  • Additional responsibilities include: contract life cycle management, including contract review; knowledge management; regulatory compliance support

Required Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of legal field experience in paralegal, legal research, legal project mgmt or related field
  • Experience working with multiple teams and levels within a matrixed organization
  • Solid technical proficiency
  • Proven solid customer service skills
  • Proven solid verbal & written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Legal Research experience
  • Legal Project Management experience or legal operations experience
  • Familiarity with matter management systems, contract management systems
  • Background in cross-functional legal support, including paralegal certification or comparable practical experience
  • Intermediate level of proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, Visio

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $71,200 to $127,200 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
