The position is located in the Primary Care Clinic and performs as a receptionist, records maintenance, and a variety of clerical duties associated with ambulatory care. This position will provide assistance to a diverse population. The incumbent will serve as the primary source of contact for the Primary Care staff and a member of the medical home team. Responsibilities include receiving telephone calls and visitors concerned with a variety of matters including the availability of, and procedures for obtaining medical assistance, and making or changing scheduled appointments. Reviews Resources Patient Management System for benefit eligibility for patients seeking health care. Provides information on immunization schedule and assists with scheduling appointments. Assist with obtaining immunization records from various immunization data base or health care facility. Maintains a variety of sensitive information; registers, records, and reports in order to provide statistics and information for patient care planning and other purposes. Assist with maintaining equipment and supply orders and works with designated staff, Property and Supply, Maintenance Department, or Administration at FYSU.

GS-0679-05: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Knowledge of medical, technical, or specialized terms when communicating with patients and professional staff to explain regulations and procedures; Use of automated patient registration systems to update patient records. OR 4 years of education above the high school level OR Combination of education and experience that when combined meet the minimum qualifications for this position.
Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
