Medical Social Worker Opportunity

Salary: $2000 / Week Medical Social Worker | Local Contract | October Start – Palo Alto Start Date: October 2025 | 13-Week Contract

We're seeking an experienced Medical Social Worker for a local contract at a leading hospital in Palo Alto, California. This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative inpatient care team in an acute hospital setting.

Position Highlights

• Location: Palo Alto, CA
• Unit: Inpatient Social Work
• Start Window: October 2025
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Schedule: 5x8s (40 hours/week)
• Shift: Days (Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM)
• On-site only | No nights or weekends

Required Qualifications

• Local candidates only
• Master's degree in Social Work (MSW)
• 1+ years of Social Worker experience in medical social work (ICU experience strongly preferred)
• Experience: Acute inpatient setting (not PRN; ongoing experience beyond 1–2 months)
• EPIC EMR proficiency
• Travel experience highly preferred (minimal orientation provided)

Additional Compliance Requirements

• TB Questionnaire, PPD, or chest X-ray (if applicable)
• Current Health Certificate (per contract or state regulation)
• Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements
• Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site
• Understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements
• Ability to effectively communicate with supervisors, co-workers, and clients; proficiency in English required
• Computer proficiency required

What You'll Do

Provide psychosocial support and discharge planning for patients in an adult acute care setting. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure safe transitions of care and address complex social and emotional needs.
