Engineering Manager
Cathay Pacific Airways is looking for an Engineering Manager to join the Los Angeles Engineering team in an exempt capacity. The successful candidate will manage the engineering and ramp operational duty holder functions across the allocated station(s) ensuring delivery of a safe and exceptionally reliable travel experience that supports our brand and business. They will be responsible to drive the highest levels of safety, compliance and service delivery by stringent oversight and management of third party suppliers including responsibility for the Engineering budget, safety and operational performance across the allocated station(s). They will also execute the Company's priorities, Line Maintenance's global strategy aligned with the region's specific focus to deliver operational excellence and productivity improvements.
Operational Accountabilities
- Manage routine and non-routine maintenance for Cathay Group aircraft in accordance with all HKAR-145 and company requirements
- Manage routine and non-routine maintenance for third party customer aircraft (if applicable) in accordance with the appropriate national authority and customer requirements
- Working on a shift basis, take responsibility for the management of an engineering team to deliver operational excellence
- Directly supervise and certify aircraft maintenance
- Perform local or overseas operational relief duties when required by the Company
- Manage and oversee third party supplier performance (technical, ramp services, deicing, refueling etc.) as the Operational Duty Holder
- Ensure that Cathay and third party supplier's labour (including the controlled third party mechanics) are trained, qualified and authorised on all aircraft types operating at the station
- Manage and execute contingency plans to support ad hoc operational requirements such as diversions, charters, ad hoc aircraft type changes, major disruption recovery etc.
- Manage the availability, serviceability and cleanliness of station ground equipment, vehicles and facilities
- Coordinate and support Cathay Quality Audit, Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department, third party audits, follow up audit findings and implement mitigations to prevent reoccurrence
- Manage station administration and ensure station documentations / passes are up-to date and valid
- Be accountable for compliance with local Occupational Health & Safety standards and regulations / guidelines
- Any other reasonable task as requested including engaging in non-operational duties and projects

Requirements
- HKAR-66 B1 or B2 license, or any equivalent license acceptable in HKAR-2
- University Degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is required
- Minimum of 2 current aircraft type authorisations, preferably on the type operated by Cathay and level 3 trained
- Minimum 10 years' experience in an aircraft maintenance environment
- Minimum 3 years practical experience working as a certifying Engineer or Engineering Supervisor
- Demonstrable operational knowledge of aircraft maintenance and ground handling activities
- Working knowledge of Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department airworthiness regulations
- Demonstrable ability in management and understanding of business change process
- Proven capability in cost control and budgeting
- Previous experience in managing a team is an advantage
- Must possess a valid state issued driver's license
- Must successfully pass all pre-screening clearances, including a background check and pre-employment drug screen upon contingent job offer
- Obtain and retain necessary credentials and clearances (SIDA and Customs Seal) per local requirements
- Ability to move equipment up to 50 lbs frequently
- Comfortable working outdoors on the tarmac in all weather conditions
- Strong cognitive reasoning, mathematical and diagnostic skills are essential
- Must be willing and able to perform a variety of physical activities to complete inspection and repairs, including bending, crouching, stooping, and positioning self in overhead positions
- Must be willing and able to travel within North America and overseas, if required

Salary Range - The estimated salary range for this role is $116,058 to $174,156 per year. Employee pay will vary based on factors such as qualifications, experience, skill level, competencies and work location.
