Application Engineer I

The Application Engineer I is responsible for developing a wide range of Ignition applications and solutions. This role develops smaller, compelling demonstration applications to showcase Ignition's capabilities, while also contributing to larger team initiatives. The Application Engineer I will also work closely with Sales Engineers to provide Ignition expertise and solutions to the Sales team and customers. Success in this role will result in increased customer satisfaction, well-supported Sales Engineers, a more capable and successful Ignition community, and a more impactful Application Engineering team. This is a full-time position with remote, hybrid, and on-site opportunities available.

The Application Engineer I job skills, qualifications, and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Learning Ignition and development best practices
  • Learning Application Engineering initiatives and workflows
  • Developing compelling Ignition applications and custom solutions for customers, Sales Engineers, and the Sales Division
  • Providing Ignition expertise and design experience to the Sales Engineering and Sales Division
  • Building Ignition Exchange resources
  • Developing front-end (Perspective) and back-end database solutions for both desktop and mobile platforms
  • Developing and testing cloud-based solutions
  • Developing and maintaining Ignition demonstration projects and cloud infrastructure
  • Understanding complex systems quickly and efficiently
  • Designing and programming test scenarios for Ignition, and assisting with benchmark testing
  • Assisting with RandD work
  • Researching technical ideas and writing RFI/RFP responses

Requirements:

  • Remote, hybrid, onsite opportunities are available
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering or similar subject (or equivalent experience)
  • 1-2 years as a developer or like experience
  • Good knowledge of SQL Databases and SQL language
  • Experienced in programming languages such as Python and Java
  • Knowledge of Windows and Linux
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to understand complex systems quickly and efficiently
  • Experience with both front-end and back-end development
  • Proficient UI/UX design skills
  • Experience using Ignition

Pay based on the Sacramento region, the new hires minimum and maximum target salary for this role is $90k - $100k. This role will be paid hourly. Inductive Automations ranges are market-driven and set to allow for flexibility. Although it is not typical for an individual to start at the top end of the range for the position, compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case, work location, job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training; and other business and organizational needs.
