Under general direction of the Airside Operations Director, the Airside Project Construction Manager will be responsible for the coordination and integration of all planned and unplanned construction, maintenance, and enhancement projects in the Air Operations Area (AOA) within the framework of Federal Aviation Regulation Part 139. The AOA is comprised of the runway and taxiway system (movement) and ramp operational area (non-movement). This includes facilitating project work on the airside that is required to accomplish geometry changes, regulatory requirements, and infrastructure improvements, while reducing impact to stakeholders, passengers, and guests. Responsibilities include reviewing and administering phasing plans to ensure safe and compliant operations, identifying project synergies and other solutions to reduce congestion and delays, and partnering with stakeholders to minimize and develop construction work schedules that align with Airside resource constraints and priorities.

You are excited about this opportunity because you will:

  • Interface with Airport, Airlines, and Ground Handling tenants to identify solutions and options that maximize the safety and operational efficiency of apron layout design.
  • Partner with Engineering staff and local FAA on key projects to enhance and maintain the complex non-standard geometry of the SFO runway and taxiway system.

  • Produce briefing documents on project plans, impacts, and mitigations for airport leadership, airlines, FAA, and other stakeholders.
  • Attend planning, partnering, pre-bid and construction meetings related to these projects.
  • Ensure projects are aligned with the Airport's Safety Management System (SMS), driving risk-based decision making.
  • Provide insight on project timing, scope, and alignment to gain synergies that reduce closures, disruption, and cost.
  • Monitor the work of and coach professional-level staff.
  • Manage and review responsibilities to determine execution of airside budget.
