Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history. Northrop Grumman is seeking Vehicle Engineers to join the Aeronautics Systems Intern Program. This position will be located at one of the following locations: Palmdale, CA / Edwards AFB, CA / Mojave, CA / El Segundo, CA / Redondo Beach, CA. In Vehicle Engineering, we develop manned and unmanned aircraft platforms for all programs in the Aeronautics Systems Sector. The selected candidate will work in a dynamic people-focused environment where he/she will interact with users, customers and other developers. As an intern, you'll participate in a summer internship program to develop competencies in a variety of engineering specializations that may include: construct, troubleshoot, calibrate, adjust, test, and maintain equipment, components, devices, or systems; work from engineering drawings and written or verbal instructions; operate related equipment; conduct tests and report data in prescribed format; perform calibration and alignment checks; make adjustments, modifications, and replacements as directed; and analyze, research, and develop structural engineering analysis packages involving metals or composite structural materials for product design or operation of product to include structures, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronics.
Basic Qualifications: A candidate, regardless of age and hiring source, must meet ALL of the below criteria. The candidate must: be enrolled full-time and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited college/university AND graduating after August 2026; be majoring in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Modeling & Simulation, Applied Mechanics, Materials/Composites or related STEM field; be available to work full-time (40 hours per week) for at least 10 weeks during summer 2026; and be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite) as well as Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite).
Preferred Qualifications: Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.25/4.0 or higher. Previous internship/co-op experience, leadership & teamwork capabilities, interpersonal communication skills, and activities (professional/community/extracurricular).
Intern Pay Range: Undergraduate degrees (including graduating students planning on attending/enrolled in a full-time Master's program): $16.25 to $36.50 per hour. Master's: $21.25 to $46.00 per hour. The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
