Desktop Support Specialist

Cahill is looking for an enthusiastic Desktop Support Specialist to join our team onsite at our office in San Francisco's Financial District. This is a generalist position with exposure to a wide variety of technologies. In this entry to mid-level position, you will have the opportunity to support both office and field personnel.

Job duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist with IT issues, escalate tickets, and communicate with third parties to ensure timely resolutions.
  • Manage PC/laptop setup and deployment for new employees using standard hardware images and software.
  • Install, modify, and repair computer hardware and software, including supporting company mobile devices, printers, and network devices.
  • Troubleshoot network port and wireless connectivity issues, resolving hardware, peripheral, and software problems.
  • Demonstrate the ability to solve network and technical problems.
  • Maintain composure and efficiency under pressure during major network and systems emergencies, contributing to timely solutions.
  • Ticketing / Time management
  • Maintain IT inventory
  • Occasional on-site support for our offices in Oakland, San Jose, and San Leandro.

Preferred education, experience, and qualities:

  • 3-5 years of previous IT experience.
  • Technical certifications, especially Microsoft and CISCO, are preferred.
  • Strong expertise in Windows client and proficiency in Office 365 Suite.
  • Windows Server, including AD and GPO.
  • MDM
  • Basic networking knowledge, including TCP/IP, DNS, routing, and subnetting.
  • Flexibility to meet important deadlines.
  • Effective multi-tasking skills, seamlessly switching between project management and daily systems support.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to interact professionally and harmoniously with peers.
  • A quick grasp of modern technologies and a sense of humor to foster a positive team environment.

Physical requirements:

  • Repetitively use hand motions for keyboard use and physical use of vision to read computer monitors and paper documents.
  • Regularly use hands to operate standard office equipment (personal computer, phone, printer, etc.)
  • See with close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and have the ability to adjust focus.
  • Sit at a desk for prolonged periods of time working on a computer.
  • Talk and hear at normal levels. The noise level in the office work environment is usually low to moderate.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally.
