Housekeeping Department Supervisor

This position oversees the daily operations of the hotel's housekeeping department, ensuring that all guest rooms and public areas meet the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and presentation. The schedule runs 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with two days off during the workweek (TBD). The starting salary ranges from $48,000 to $50,000 annually, depending on experience.

We're looking for a strong, confident leader with exceptional people skills and the ability to motivate, coach, and develop a diverse team. Prior hotel leadership experience is a major plus, as the role requires someone who understands the pace, expectations, and guest-service standards of a hospitality environment. The supervisor will handle scheduling, conflict resolution, performance coaching, and daily communication with staff to ensure smooth operations and a positive work culture.

This is a hands-on leadership role—not a desk job. The supervisor is expected to work alongside room attendants and housepersons, supporting the team on the floor, assisting with room inspections, stepping in during high-volume periods, and modeling the level of quality and professionalism expected from the department. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, calm under pressure, skilled at resolving issues, and committed to delivering an exceptional guest experience through strong teamwork and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

Lead the daily operations of the housekeeping department, ensuring all guest rooms and public areas meet strict cleanliness, safety, and presentation standards.

Work hands-on alongside room attendants and housepersons, supporting the team on the floor, assisting with room inspections, and stepping in during high-volume periods.

Provide strong, consistent leadership by training, coaching, and developing staff to maintain high performance, teamwork, and service excellence.

Create and manage daily schedules, adjust staffing based on occupancy, and ensure all shifts are properly covered.

Address employee concerns, resolve conflicts, and maintain a positive, professional work environment.

Communicate clearly with team members, hotel leadership, and other departments to ensure smooth operations and timely completion of tasks.

Monitor productivity, quality, and service levels, taking corrective action when needed to uphold departmental standards.

Maintain inventory of linens, supplies, and equipment, following proper purchasing and cost-control procedures.

Ensure compliance with all safety, sanitation, and company policies, including proper handling of chemicals and equipment.

Respond to guest requests and complaints promptly, professionally, and with a focus on delivering an exceptional guest experience.

Support VIP arrivals, special requests, and high-priority room needs by coordinating with front desk and other hotel teams.

Uphold a culture of accountability, professionalism, and pride in the work performed throughout the department.

Qualifications

Prior hotel leadership experience is preferred, with a solid understanding of housekeeping operations, service standards, and the pace of a hospitality environment.

Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a diverse team while maintaining professionalism, accountability, and high morale.

Strong skills in conflict resolution, coaching, performance management, and employee relations, with the ability to address issues calmly and effectively.

Experience creating and managing schedules, adjusting staffing levels, and coordinating daily operational needs.

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to clearly convey expectations and provide constructive feedback.

Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of maintaining accuracy in a fast-paced, high-volume setting.

Comfortable working hands-on and supporting staff on the floor; must be willing to assist with room inspections, cleaning tasks, and operational needs as required.

Strong customer-service mindset with the ability to respond professionally to guest concerns and ensure a positive experience.

Proficiency in basic computer applications, including email and scheduling tools.

Ability to work the assigned schedule (9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.) with two weekdays off (TBD), and flexibility to support operational needs when required.

Physical ability to be on your feet for extended periods and assist with tasks that may involve bending, lifting, or moving throughout the property.
