Software Engineering Intern - Summer 2026

Currently, we are seeking summer 2026 interns in the software engineering department. As a software engineering intern, you will provide prototyping, coding, testing, scripting, and document generation in support of software development activities. The code will be developed in C++ and Python, and it will run on RedHat Linux. It will be deployed as applications, VMs, or containers on bare metal, public cloud, or hybrid environment. Git and GitLab will be used to keep track of your changes. Jira will be used to track tasks and defects. Confluence will be used to collaborate with other engineers and document the design for your projects. GitLab merge requests will be used to submit your code for peer review prior to release. This will teach you the fundamentals of developing production quality code. You will be assigned to a technology-based engineering team, and benefit from working side-by-side with a talented and experienced group of professionals who are eager to mentor.

Responsibilities:

• Code development in C++ and Python
• Software test development and execution in an automated testing framework called TestExec
• Creation and updates for requirements, test plan, and release documentation

Qualifications:

• Current university sophomore, junior, or senior pursuing a STEM degree
• Working towards a BS/BE in computer science, computer engineering, EE
• Experience programming in Python and C++
• Understanding of object-oriented design
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future

This job operates in a professional office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee routinely is required to use hands to keyboard, communicate, listen to, and interpret instructions and remain stationary for extended periods of the time. This would require the ability to move around the campus and occasionally move/lift items weighing up to 25 lbs. Pay range: There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, federal government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. The proposed salary range for this position is: $39,900-$79,900.
