Human Factors Engineer

The Human Factors Engineer will support efforts to integrate human systems considerations across all stages of research, design, and system development. This role combines technical expertise with systems engineering to ensure that human performance, usability, and mission effectiveness are built into every phase of the program.

You'll provide comprehensive technical and programmatic support throughout the full system life cycle — from concept refinement and technology development to production, deployment, and operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and analyze HSI and operational requirements

• Support concept development and creation of performance tools

• Conduct research, trade studies, and formal design reviews

• Support test and evaluation, laboratory, and field activities

• Participate in working groups, advisory panels, and mockup assessments

• Provide organizational and technical management support

• Investigate and assess emerging technologies

Required Skills, Experience, and Qualifications

Must possess a verifiable Department of Defense Secret Clearance.

ABET Accredited BS degree from ABET recognized engineering curriculum with concentration in Human Factors, or BS/BA degree in Engineering Psychology, Industrial and Organizational Psychology, or related field with Human Factors Curriculum, or BS/BA Degree in Human Factors programs recognized by the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society.

Four (4) years of experience in Government related R&D, T&E, and systems acquisition programs, and four (4) years of experience in at least two (2) of the following areas:

• Human Factors Engineering Project Acquisition support

• Human Factors T&E

• Platform Systems/Subsystems Integration

• Human Factors Engineering Program Planning

• Human Systems Design Studies and Analysis

• Training Systems development

• Conduct Human Factors in S&T and R&D both in the laboratory and field settings

• Tactical decision-making processes, and individual and team performance assessment

• Workload assessment

• Reviewing and preparing HSI engineering and technical analyses, reports, change proposals, and other technical documentation

• Usability assessment and design

• Design of habitability spaces (i.e., berthing, messing, galley, etc.)

• ESOH/OSHA requirements and design

• Habitability requirements and design

• Threat assessments and their impacts on personal survivability

• Threat assessments and their impacts on personnel survivability

• Human computer interaction/graphical user interface design

• MIL-STD-1472 evaluation and compliance

• Ergonomics evaluation and compliance, including maintenance accessibility

• Human research and experimental design
