Attention April 2026 Graduates! We are looking for an Instrumentation and Control Engineer for our Peterborough, Ontario site. BWXT NEC's Fuel Handling and Engineered Solutions group is involved in the design, manufacture, development, testing, parts supply, and service of on-power refueling, reactor maintenance, and nuclear medicine delivery tooling sold around the world. We are the original designer of the automated systems that allow 24/7 on power refueling of CANDU reactors and aim to solve some of the Nuclear Industry's most challenging problems. Today, BWXT's equipment is being used in most of the nuclear power plants in Canada and is critical to delivering carbon free energy production and lifesaving medical isotopes.

The Instrumentation & Controls Engineering department largely focuses on the control systems and instrumentation involved within Fuel Handling Systems, other parts of the plant, tooling, medical isotope systems as well as remote delivery machines. These systems are often complex and are in specialized areas. The department has the expert knowledge, legacy information and skillset to support our customers with engineering design, troubleshooting, maintenance and support work. We use such tools as AutoCAD®, AutoCAD Electrical® and IntEC® to create concept drawings, detailed designs, elementary drawings, BOMs, wiring diagrams and can also provide design replacement solutions for obsolete components such as relays, motors and circuit cards.

Location: This position is onsite in Peterborough, Ontario

Your Day to Day: New graduate with a Bachelor of Engineering degree in either Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Aerospace with exemplary academic achievement. Co-op or internship experience in design engineering in Nuclear, Aerospace, Mining, Oil and Gas, or other highly regulated and process based design. Excellent written and oral communication skills, understandable by a diverse audience. Competence in design and design processes. Creative problem-solving skills, outstanding analytical abilities, developing leadership skills and the ability to work in a team. Flexibility to work remotely on short-term customer site assignment.
