Project-Based HR Compliance Specialist

Location: Hybrid – 3 days onsite / 2 days remote (Onsite option at Deer Park or West Loop office; note that desk availability at West Loop may vary.) Pay Rate: $30–$40 per hour

Summary: We are seeking a Project-Based HR Compliance Specialist to support ongoing compliance initiatives and ensure adherence to federal, state, and local employment regulations. This role will assist with policy development, audits, regulatory updates, recordkeeping, training coordination, and cross-functional collaboration. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and experience handling sensitive information with discretion.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Policy Development: Support updates to HR policies and the employee handbook, including California 2026 employment law implementation.
  • Auditing & Risk Assessment: Assist with audits of HR practices, contractor processes, and follow-up action plans.
  • Regulatory Monitoring: Help track and communicate changes in employment laws across applicable regions.
  • Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate and compliant employee documentation, including I-9s.
  • Training Support: Partner with Learning & Development to coordinate compliance and manager training sessions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with legal, payroll, operations, and other teams to ensure aligned HR practices.
  • Reporting & Analysis: Support the preparation of compliance metrics, reports, and trend analyses for leadership.
  • Investigations: Assist with internal reviews of potential compliance issues and support corrective action planning.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws (Texas, Louisiana, California, and Calgary, Canada strongly preferred).
  • Proficiency in MS Office and related software.
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to handle confidential information responsibly.
  • Experience in HR, compliance, or a related field is required.
