Location: Pretoria, South Africa

BSI is looking for an Intern – Training Operations based in Pretoria to join us and enable the successful delivery of our virtual, face-to-face, and distance learning programmes offered through the BSI Training Academy.

The role provides high-quality administrative and operational support across the full training lifecycle, helping to deliver a seamless experience for delegates, tutors, and internal stakeholders. As part of the UKI & South Africa Training Operations Team, you will contribute to operational efficiency, service excellence, and customer satisfaction across the EMEA region.

This is an excellent intern opportunity for a confident communicator and strong team player who is highly customer-focused and committed to delivering great service. You will gain valuable corporate experience within a multinational organisation, working in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.

This internship is a full-time, 12-month fixed-term contract position with a hybrid working arrangement of a minimum twice per week at our Pretoria office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver a consistently high standard of service to internal and external customers of the Training function.
  • Coordinate end-to-end training administration, including pre-course logistics, delegate communications, venue management, and onsite or virtual delivery arrangements.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for delegates, tutors, and internal stakeholders, ensuring smooth and professional course delivery.
  • Collaborate proactively with Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Delivery teams to support training operations and aligned business processes.
  • Ensure all post-course activities are completed accurately and on time, including certification issuance, reporting, system updates, and documentation, in line with EMEA Operational Academy governance standards.
  • Maintain a strong client-centric approach, responding to emails and telephone enquiries within established KPIs.
  • Support continuous process improvement by identifying efficiencies and maintaining best practices across training operations.

To be successful in this role, you have:

  • Previous experience in an administrative, operational, or customer-facing role.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, proactive, resilient, and adaptable.
  • Strong command of English, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).

Essential criteria and qualifications:

Favourable National Diploma (P1 & P2 essential):

  • Microbiology
  • Food Technology
  • Environmental Health
  • Occupational Health and Safety

Listed below are the minimum requirements that you are required to meet:

  • Citizen in the country of hire
  • Should be based at the city of hire
  • A relevant National Diploma qualification
  • Have not worked full time (more than 1 year) in their field of study
  • Currently in final year of the qualification or just completed studies

Mandatory Training offered during the internship:

  • ISO45001 or ISO14001 Requirements (within 6 months)
  • ISO45001 or ISO14001 Implementation (within 6 months)
  • ISO45001 or ISO14001 Internal Auditor (within 6 months)
  • ISO45001 or ISO14001 Lead Auditor (within 12 months)
