Position Overview:

As the Vibration Durability Test Lead Engineer for the NVH & Structures team, you will lead engine and component dynamic test activities in support of new and current product development. In this role, you will be at the forefront of shaping the durability performance of our marine propulsion systems, ensuring every product delivers superior customer experience. You will serve as the technical leader for shock and vibration durability testing, collaborating across engineering disciplines to solve complex challenges and elevating Mercury Marine's reputation for quality and performance.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers and technicians in the Shaker Vibration lab
  • Manage the priority and execution of shock and vibration durability test and analysis activities
  • Champion data acquisition and analysis plans for field testing that optimizes correlation between customer usage and component test methodologies
  • Lead and develop dynamic machine health monitoring capabilities to proactively detect and avoid potential endurance test issues
  • Collaborate with engineers and technicians to refine designs that achieve robust component reliability
  • Develop growth plans for personnel, test / analysis tools, and facilities to successfully deliver the future product portfolio
  • Consult with other Brunswick divisions to share best practices and drive consistency in test methodologies
  • Collaborate with design analysis group to improve analytical modeling capabilities

Diversity of thought and experiences is fundamental when imagining the unimaginable. Certain skillsets/experiences are necessary; however, others can be developed along the way.

Required Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering degree or related field
  • 8+ years of engineering experience in durability and structural dynamics testing (or 5+ years if completed M.S. degree)
  • Experience mentoring or supervising a team of technicians and/or engineers
  • Proficient with durability and dynamic testing data acquisition hardware & analysis software packages
  • Proficient with vibration and fatigue instrumentation (e.g. accelerometers, strain gages, force transducers, etc)
  • Strong teamwork skills and ability to work among cross-functional teams
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to translate technical data into actionable recommendations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • M.S. in an engineering discipline with a focus in Shock and Vibration or Structural Dynamics
  • Experience with machine health monitoring test and analysis systems
  • Experience with FE-based fatigue analysis
  • Working knowledge of engines and marine propulsion systems
  • Familiarity with the use and operation of marine vessels

The hiring range for this position is $103,200 - $164,500 annually. The actual base pay offered will vary based on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the specifics of the candidate's qualifications and the business context.

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
