Position Overview:

As an Hydro Engineering Technician on Mercury Marine's Drives & Propulsion Systems Engineering team you will be responsible for supporting a variety of on water test activities including rigging boats, configuring instrumentation, troubleshooting equipment, and running/documenting test plans and reports.

Essential Functions:

  • Rig boats with equipment such as engines, gearcases, props, and controls
  • Install and configure instrumentation and data acquisition hardware
  • Boat maintenance activities such as changing oil and water pump impellers
  • Troubleshoot equipment that is not performing as expected
  • Support on-water test activities such propeller and ballast weight configuration changes
  • Operate safety boat and provide immediate support to other on-water test technicians and engineers
  • Maintain water rescue and first-aid training and certification
  • Calibrate test instrumentation
  • Measure quantities of interest for hydro testing such as AVP height, gearcase setback, boat weight & center of gravity, etc.
  • Test hardware coordination, transportation, and inventory management
  • Use computer to run data acquisition software, write test reports, and interact with Mercury's Test Request System
  • 3D-Scanning of hydro test equipment such as boats, gearcases, and propellers
  • Travel to support testing activities in Florida during winter months

Diversity of thought and experiences is fundamental when imagining the unimaginable. Certain skillsets/experiences are necessary; however, others can be developed along the way.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Knowledge of marine propulsion systems and maintenance
  • Experienced boat operator
  • Comfortable entering water and swimming with a life jacket
  • Able to lift 50 lb weight to shoulder-height and be on feet during majority of the work shift

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in technical field
  • Aptitude for mechanical designs and system conceptualization
  • Experience with 3D modelling using CAD software
  • 1-3 years of work experience in the marine industry

The anticipated pay range for this position is $41,500-$62,300 annually. The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location. In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. At Brunswick, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the salary range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the specifics of the candidate's qualifications and the business context.
