Field Service Engineer

The Bruker Nano Surfaces (BNS) division is part of Bruker Corporation, one of the leading global providers of scientific instrumentation. The BNS division is looking for a field service engineer to provide on-site assistance to our customers in Europe for metrology instruments. You will be part of the EMEA service team, which provides support for a wide range of metrology tools, including nano mechanical instruments, optical 3D profilometers, stylus profilometers, and nano chemistry measurement instruments.
You will work with the client to install, troubleshoot, or relocate the instrument or system while respecting safety rules. You will complete the intervention by ensuring good reception and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Prepare the installation by understanding the technical specifications of the system and ensuring the technical and material prerequisites internally and with the client to complete the installation on time
- Perform on-site installation of a system and provide training to the client to achieve commissioning in accordance with the specifications
- Perform regular and/or preventive maintenance according to the defined protocol for the relevant system to meet compliance or contractual criteria for the client
- Diagnose and correct on-site and/or remotely, malfunctions on the systems to bring the system back to operational status
- Provide regular follow-up and maintain a quality relationship with the client to perpetuate commercial relationships
- Write an external and internal activity report and perform reporting in the dedicated business software to ensure traceability of the activity and proper cost allocation
- Act as a liaison between factory experts and the client to resolve complex issues
- Monitor maintenance contracts
- Establish a link of trust to become an effective interface between the client and Bruker to ensure customer satisfaction and enable the sale of service contracts and new equipment.
Qualifications
- Good knowledge in mechanical/electrical engineering or material science
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to understand complex electromechanical systems and good technical problem-solving skills
- First experience with tools such as an oscilloscope and a multimeter
- Existing experience with nano mechanical instruments, white light interferometry, optical 3D profilers, and/or stylus profilers would be a plus
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems independently and to conduct training sessions
- Good knowledge of computer science
- Fluent English
- Valid driving license in the EU/UK
