Plumbing Technician

Performs plumbing work including installing, maintaining, and repairing plumbing and heating systems.

Essential Duties:

Installs new plumbing including pipes, valves, drains, basins, faucets, lavatories, sinks, drinking fountains, hot water heaters, and a variety of other plumbing fixtures and equipment;

Repairs plumbing systems including pipelines;

Repairs chilled and heated water systems;

Repairs various appliances including laundry and kitchen equipment;

Reads and interprets blueprints and written instructions;

Provides assistance to building maintenance as needed;

And confers with supervisor concerning construction, alteration, maintenance, and repair projects.

Other duties as assigned.

Education

Required: High school graduation or its equivalent; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Required: At least three years of experience.

Required: Texas Journeyman Plumber's license.

Methods, practices, and equipment used in cooling and heating systems installation, maintenance, and repair. Safe operation of plumbing, electrical, and mechanical equipment. Read and interpret blueprints, manuals, and written instructions; operate electrical and plumbing equipment; apply safety standards to prevent hazards; estimate time and materials for projects; communicate effectively; tolerate adverse working conditions; work effectively and cooperatively with co-workers.

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud. The employee is frequently required to work closely with others as a part of a team; to perform multiple tasks simultaneously, and to switch from one task to another.
