Director Of Advancement Services (Open)

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement annual plans for continuous improvement of database systems, data integration across university platforms, and related technologies to ensure optimal data integrity and operational efficiency.
  • Generate and oversee monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual financial reports in collaboration with the finance office, including donor benchmarking reports aligned with VSE and other gift reporting standards.
  • Translate constituent data into actionable information to support fundraising strategies, moves management, and measures of success.
  • Lead prospect research and pipeline discussions, including preparation of research briefs for events and meetings, to strengthen strategies for annual, major, and planned giving.
  • Serve as liaison with key university offices — including technology, finance, financial aid, athletics, and academic units — to support data integration, collaboration, and software project prioritization.
  • Coordinate and assess training needs for Advancement staff on database systems, business processes, and fundraising information systems to ensure consistent data integrity and institutional knowledge.
  • Execute and maintain key knowledge management resources including business process documentation, procedural handbooks, policies, and guidelines.
  • Manage access to alumni and donor data, safeguarding confidentiality, and overseeing coding tables, donor lists, and data requests.
  • Anticipate constituent needs and ensure sound donor stewardship practices are reflected across all Advancement services and communications.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to establish and maintain a good rapport with donors, students, faculty/staff and vendors.
  • At least three years of related advancement services or development experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
  • Two or more years of supervisory experience
  • Three or more years' experience with relational databases including query and report writing, preferably with Salesforce.
  • Experience with database conversion and power user with Salesforce, and prospect data systems, as well as financial gift reporting, acknowledgement and accounting.
  • Excellent computer skills, particularly the Microsoft Office suite of products.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with strict deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and to exhibit good judgement in making independent decisions that are aligned with University vision, and mission.
  • Ability to work independently as well as establish and maintain professional relations with other staff, faculty, students, alumni and donors.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Excellent customer service skills and writing skills.
