Peripheral Interventions R&D Engineering Intern

Our R&D engineers are tasked with designing and developing innovative, breakthrough next-generation medical devices that improve and extend the lives of patients around the world. The Peripheral Interventions (PI) unit leads in minimally invasive therapies for peripheral artery disease, venous disease, vessel trauma, and cancer. Growth of the division is driven by the aging population, under-diagnosed and under-treated patient populations, heterogeneity of disease and unmet clinical need. PI offers innovations in drug-eluting technologies, clot management, embolization, and interventional oncology.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Use your problem-solving abilities to perform meaningful engineering work.
  • Grow your skillset through a combination of training, hands-on experience, and mentorship.
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team.

  • Designing, and prototyping new software designs to address clinical feedback.
  • Develop new and innovative test methods for software and system verification.
  • Assist new product development teams in software and firmware development and testing.
  • Research and analyze clinical and market data for new market opportunities.

Required qualifications:

  • Must graduate between December 2027 and May 2028.
  • Must have at least one semester of school left post-internship.
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
  • Must be able to commit to one of the following full internship program periods: May 18th – August 7th OR May 26th – August 14th.
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from the Maple Grove, MN Boston Scientific Corporate location.
  • Programming experience using C++ and Python.
  • Familiarity with Rust.
  • Matlab and simulink experience.
  • Able to use lab equipment to troubleshoot interactions between software and hardware.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse cross-functional teams.
  • Ability and passion to learn new technologies and find new solutions.
