BorgWarner

A global product leader in clean and efficient technology solutions for combustion, hybrid, and electric vehicles.

BorgWarner Product Development Engineer

Whether in a highly efficient combustion engine, an intelligent hybrid system or the very latest electric drive, BorgWarner is driving mobility for today and tomorrow. Our vision is a clean, energy-efficient world. That's why we develop mobility system solutions that reduce energy consumption and emissions, while at the same time improving performance. As a product leader with more than 130 years of experience in the field of powertrain systems, we are supporting the automotive industry in realizing clean propulsion and efficient technology solutions for light-, medium- and heavy-duty vehicles as well as off-highway applications.

You will be part of an international team giving CAE support for the product development department. Your responsibility is to run non-linear rotordynamic analysis and to evaluate rotor/bearing systems based on your simulation results. You collaborate with the testing department and external partner to validate & calibrate your simulation methods.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Independent execution of simulation studies
  • Characterization of the nonlinear effects of bearing systems and their interaction with the rotor system of exhaust turbochargers
  • Evaluation of various rotor/bearing concepts and new boundary conditions within product development and application projects
  • Derivation of new rotor/bearing designs using appropriate optimization methods
  • Further development of simulation and optimization techniques
  • Analysis, documentation, and reporting, as well as presentation of results internally and on-site to clients
  • Close collaboration within product and application development

Your Profile:

  • Successfully completed studies in engineering or technical mathematics
  • Profound theoretical expertise in dynamics and vibration technology, preferably in rotor and bearing dynamics (ideally acquired through a doctoral program)
  • Programming skills in Matlab, Python, C/C++, or Fortran
