Service and Warranty Engineering Intern

This is an intern/co-op position for an Engineering Student in the Battery and Charging Systems business unit. The candidate will be responsible for working with the service team to troubleshoot battery systems and equipment. He/she will develop standards of work, including training plans, and will be responsible for Key Performance Indicator (KPI) management.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Service and Warranty Management
  • Key Performance Indicator (KPI) management
  • Troubleshooting battery system and equipment
  • Tracking service site maintenance
  • Tracking service tool change requests
  • Assist in structured problem-solving process (8D) for customer returns
  • Support lessons learned read across activity to other plants or regions
  • Coordinate problem solving between engineering and service technician
  • Support the development of a training plan
  • Time studies
  • Other duties as assigned by the manager

We are looking for a student working toward a bachelor's degree (Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technician preferred, but will also consider Mechanical or Computer Engineer). Willingness to learn tools such as 8D, 5 whys, Quality Alerts to resolve quality issues. Excellent drive for results with the ability to coordinate projects from start to completion. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.

  • This position will adhere to Global Star Safety Program, including safety rules, practices, and training as outlined in the BorgWarner PTC Safety Policy Manual, which includes the use of equipment, protective devices, or clothing that the employer requires. This individual will work in manners that stress the importance of preventing accidents and illnesses. He/she must take every precaution reasonable in the given circumstance for the protection of themselves and coworkers. In addition, he/she is responsible for reporting all injuries and/or possible dangerous situations, incidents, or occurrences to the immediate supervisor.
