AI Automation Engineer

We are seeking a highly capable AI Automation Engineer to support the automation and scaling of a New Zealand mortgage advisory business. This role will act as the technical backbone of the organization—designing, building, and maintaining AI-driven workflows, automations, and templates that streamline operations and reduce manual effort for advisers. You will play a key role in developing a future-ready AI-powered mortgage platform, ensuring workflows are scalable, compliant, and efficient as the business grows.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build, test, and maintain AI workflows using platforms such as ChatGPT, Gemini, and other LLM systems.
• Create automation flows using n8n, Make, and/or Zapier.
• Integrate essential systems including Gmail, FileInvite, CRM tools, and related platforms.
• Build and maintain templates for client communication and internal processes.
• Perform light development work (preferably in TypeScript/Node or Python).
• Create JSON structures, data schemas, and other structured inputs for AI tasks.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and continuously optimize automations and AI workflows.
• Maintain clear SOPs, documentation, and process guides.
• Ensure the adviser spends minimal time on repetitive admin tasks, drafting, or manual operations by proactively automating wherever possible.

Required Qualifications:

• Strong English communication skills
• 3-4 years experience in similar role
• Experience using automation platforms such as n8n, Make, and Zapier
• Comfortable prompting and working with large language models
• Software development background (TypeScript/Node or Python preferred)
• Ability to work independently, think critically, and solve problems efficiently
• Familiarity with APIs, webhooks, JSON, and structured data
• Detail-oriented, process-driven, and consistent in execution
• Familiarity with mobile app workflows or development is a plus
