Software Quality Engineer (Associate or Experienced)

The Boeing Company is seeking a motivated and talented Software Quality Engineer (Associate or Experienced) to join the Mobility, Surveillance & Bombers (MS&B) group in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Software Quality Engineering business organization. Our team of highly motivated, customer-focused engineers partner with Boeing Global Services (BGS) programs to help develop and maintain a culture of first-time quality throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC). As a member of this team, you have the autonomy and responsibility to work with programs to assure the process for developing, controlling, and verifying software products is planned and complied with, and effectively improving the quality of our software products – whether developed by Boeing or provided by suppliers.

The successful candidate for this position will have a broad background in software development practices, tools, and processes combined with a passion for advocating First Time Quality strategies. Experience with Agile and knowledge of quality standards (e.g. AS9100/AS9115) is strongly preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills, are crucial for success.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Defines and maintains program level software quality engineering processes, resources, and infrastructure
  • Prepares and presents information at formal review meetings
  • Assists in development of proposals and cost estimates
  • Reviews, comments, and approves software life cycle documents and program products
  • Plans and conducts audits of software engineering processes and associated support functions
  • Participates in configuration management activities
  • Reviews deviations and waivers to the software baseline
  • Improves products and processes and manages risk
  • Evaluates validity of test cases against established regulatory and performance requirements
  • Verifies test results
  • Performs final reconciliation of software data products
  • Provides input to program specific software quality requirements for flow down to suppliers
  • Verifies acceptability of supplier's software quality systems and programs
  • Performs software acceptance and delivery activities for low risk procurement
  • Identifies non-conformance and issues corrective actions
  • Reviews and approves corrective and preventive action plans
  • Verifies effectiveness of corrective and preventive action plans
  • Works under general direction

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 3+ years of experience with Software Development lifecycle (including Requirements Analysis, Design, Code, Integration & Test)
  • 2+ years of experience in Quality Management Systems (QMS)
  • 1+ years of experience in auditing
  • Experience in Configuration Management
  • Experience with products developed using Agile software development practices

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3+ years of software quality engineering experience supporting software with AS9115, DO-178, and/or MIL-STD-882E requirements
  • Experience with DevSecOps and associated tools

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range for Associate Level: $68,000 - $92,000

Summary pay range for Experienced Level: $83,300 - $112,700
