Software Engineers–Simulation (Experienced And Senior)

The Boeing Company is currently seeking for Software Engineers–Simulation (Experienced and Senior) to support our BESTAF SIM organization located in Seattle, Washington. This position will focus on providing modeling and simulation software support, products, and processes to BCA, BDS, BT&E, and BGS business organizations as well as Software Engineering (SWE) initiatives.

In this role, the individual will be working with engineers from internal organization behavioral modeling, airplane systems design/analysis/test, product development, and simulation framework to develop, maintain, and update software models and simulations; develop modeling and simulation standards/processes; and resolve integration issues.

This is an exciting opportunity that will allow you to directly impact the current and future architecture, design, and development of the IAC software airplane simulation that is used through all phases of airplane design, test, analysis, and certification.

The BESTAF SIM team has a backlog that includes everything from new feature development to maintenance of legacy software simulation baselines. The successful candidate will need to be comfortable working in an often fast-paced environment, have adaptability and the ability to work closely with others. Experience in software development is required, and specific background in BCA airplanes, simulation, training systems, and engineering cabs being highly desired.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Establish, maintain, and develop modeling standards that support integration into simulation
  • Troubleshoot model/simulation execution and integration problems
  • Establish model and model integration checks, unit tests
  • Design and develop models from requirements that represent the behavior of a system or component that is representative of the real component and can integrate into the greater airplane simulation
  • Develop CI/CD pipelines and other process automation for model and simulation development efficiency

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • 2+ years of experience with Gitlab and Tanzu
  • 2+ years of experience with C, C++, C#, Python, Java, or Ada
  • 2+ years of experience with MATLAB/Simulink
  • 2+ years of experience with Visual Studio, Markdown

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • 2+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with both Windows and Linux platforms
  • Experience with simulation as a tool for one or more of the following:
    • Requirements-Based Test verification
    • Requirements Validation
    • Pilot in the loop testing
    • Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) testing
    • Software-In-the-Loop (SIL) testing
  • Possess the ability to understand, interpret, and communicate complex functionalities of airplane systems and their interdependencies.
  • Experience with developing, testing, troubleshooting, and integrating complex engineering behavioral models into integrated simulations
  • Experience in interfacing simulation with laboratory cabs and benches and airplane hardware in the loop, along with familiarity with detailed test procedures and their contents.
  • Experience with software requirements development, including validation and verification
  • Experience program engineering and finance interface
  • Experience with software certification
  • Technical Writing
  • Experience with model-based design/model-based engineering

Summary pay range for Experienced Level: $118,150 - $159,850

Summary pay range for Senior Level: $141,950 - $192,050
