Senior Structural Analysis Engineer

The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Senior Structural Analysis Engineer (Level 4 & 5) to become part of the F/A-18 Structural Analysis team in Hazelwood, MO.

The BGS F/A-18 Structural Analysis team is responsible for supporting new source stand up, modifications, repairs and spares production support of the F/A-18 Legacy Hornet and Super Hornet, as well as ensuring the structural integrity of the components. Other platforms supported within our team are F-15, T-45 and AV-8B.

The selected candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced, work environment. Team members will work with cross-functional teams including representatives from Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Liaison Engineering, Technical Integration, Supplier Management, Production Operations, and Program Management. The candidate must be able to provide technical direction to teammates on structural analysis and effectively communicate with cross-functional team members.

Position Responsibilities:

• Conduct stress analyses of aircraft primary structures using well defined analysis tools
• Verification of structural integrity by using analytical methods, finite element models/simulations and other analysis tools to develop and maintain the structural environment, characteristics and performance.
• Supports in-service products by investigating failures and analyzing improvements
• Development of test plans and configurations, support test execution and analyses/reports to validate systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
• Support Configuration Control Board and Engineering Review Board as a Strength Engineering Lead
• Provide leadership and technical oversight to other Structural Analysis Engineers.
• Support on-going supplier and customer activities providing real-time support.
• Works under minimal direction.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)
• 9+ years' experience in structural analysis (Level 4)
• 9+ years' experience with building finite element models. Including Fasteners (CELAS, CBUSH, Rutman, etc), Bonded joints, bonded structure that includes honeycomb core, laminate composite details and assemblies, and details FEMs using P-element (Stress Check, Mechanica) solvers.
• Experience with structural design principles for aircraft primary structure (e.g., fatigue, damage tolerance, corrosion, stress analysis, statics, materials strength, material characteristics, and repair techniques).
• Experience analyzing fastened, and bonded joints with metallic and composite details.
• Experience designing and sizing repairs for primary flight structures
• Experience with comprehensive detail documentation and clear communication of complex technical details
• Experience in role that required leadership in structural analysis
• Experience providing detailed engineering work and schedule estimates for complex projects
• Ability and willingness to travel 20% of the time domestically and internationally

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

• 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (Level 5)
• Experience in post-production systems with emphasis in military aircraft sustainment, repairs, and modification programs.
• F/A-18 experience

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary Pay Range (Level 4): $126,650- $171,350

Summary Pay Range (Level 5): $154,700- $209,300

This position must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a "U.S. Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. "U.S. Person" includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
