Senior Human Engineer

The Boeing Company Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for a senior Human Engineer to join our Human Engineering team in Tukwila, WA; Everett, WA; Renton, WA; or Seattle, WA. Position Responsibilities:

  • Apply knowledge of aircraft certification processes to ongoing programs.
  • Develop a training structure to support training for future HE certification and verification engineers.
  • Apply Human Engineering knowledge and principles to the analysis, design, and evaluation of complex systems.
  • Define system performance requirements to ensure safe and successful human operation of physical, functional, and systems interfaces for all system operators.
  • Apply human performance principles, methodologies, and technologies to the design of complex systems.
  • Develop and implement research methodologies and analysis plans to test and evaluate developmental prototypes.
  • Apply knowledge of military standards to meet program requirements.
  • Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate HE considerations into the overall system design and development.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed locations.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Cognitive Psychology or other Human Engineering related field of study.
  • 10 or more years of experience in the field of human engineering.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Extensive knowledge of FAA Part 25 certification requirements related to human machine interface design and operation.
  • Understanding of Human System Integration (HSI) in the defense acquisition process.
  • Knowledge of military standards.
  • Ability to derive Human Engineering requirements.
  • Experience supporting defense programs.
  • Experience in program documentation of the HE processes and products in a format consistent with US Military Data Item Descriptions.
  • Experience in Human Modeling.
  • Experience with the user interface software prototyping tools.
  • Knowledge in Human Perception and Cognition.
  • Experience with Human Performance Modeling.
  • Experience in workload assessments and situation awareness assessments.
  • Experience in conducting tasks analyses.
  • Experience in Agile Development.
  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering.

Typical Education & Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics, chemistry, cognitive psychology or other human engineering related field of study. (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master+12 years' related work experience).

Summary pay range (level 5): $157,250 - $212,750
