Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) Customer Support organization is seeking a first-line Mechanical and Structural Engineering Manager (Level K) to lead the 737 NG/MAX Fuselage Airframe Service Engineering team based in Seal Beach, CA, providing 24/7 support to Boeing commercial airplane customers. This position presents a unique opportunity to lead dynamic teams that tackle complex technical challenges in support of safe aircraft operation, repair, and return to service.
As an Engineering Manager, you will collaborate with other service engineering and design/specialized engineering teams, field service teams, maintenance teams, Fleet Chief Offices, U.S. and international commercial customers/suppliers, and regulatory agencies. You will demonstrate exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, be comfortable interacting with diverse cultures, and be able to work on variable shifts.

Manages engineers performing Structural Design and Analysis of Boeing commercial airplanes. Leads a team that provides Airplane Customer Support Structural Service Engineering. Primary responsibilities of the team include customer service interface, repair development, structural analysis, structural damage tolerance analysis, project management, operational safety assessment, and FAA certification. Develops and executes projects and process plans, implements policies and procedures, and establishes operational goals. Acquires resources for projects and processes, provides technical management of suppliers, and spearheads process improvements. Cultivates and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners, and direct reports. Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products, and processes. Manages, develops, and motivates employees.
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace, Aeronautical, or Material Sciences). 5+ years of related engineering work experience (aircraft production, operations, maintenance, repair, or customer interface). Candidates must have at least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR have completed the Boeing internal course "Exploring Leadership."
Excellent communication and project management skills, along with the ability to make decisions and deliver results. Committed to proactively identifying solutions to challenges while ensuring adherence to commitments. Experience working on structural activities with Boeing airplanes. Experience of providing customer support services to airlines. Experience with structures design and analysis. Familiarity with FAA transport airplane structural regulations.
