Manufacturing Engineering Intern 2026 - 12 Months Placement
As a member of the Manufacturing Engineering team within the Production Engineering department, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a range of projects that directly support the Boeing manufacturing processes.
The successful candidate will undertake a 12 month placement, starting July 2026. They will work under the supervision of an experienced Manufacturing Engineer, and will be involved in the scoping and delivery of improvement projects in our production system. In addition, they will support the wider team with problem solving, and technical queries from across the facility.
The role will require the successful candidate to generate ideas and deliverable solutions. The successful candidate will be expected to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team, and this may involve interaction with other Boeing sites and our suppliers.
Key tasks will include:
- Identifying, developing and managing projects across the production system.
- The application of fundamental engineering concepts to a manufacturing engineering environment. These could include mathematics, mechanics (dynamics), tribology, chemical and materials.
- Manufacturing Engineering management, including: project planning, monitoring and control of changes, tailoring of generic processes, input to technical risks and opportunities.
- Reporting project progress to stakeholders and leadership.
- Using a data driven approach to assess and measure project impacts.
Essential Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

- Studying a degree course or have graduated a degree course within last 2 years.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Proficient in use of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Candidates should be studying for, or have recently graduated with a degree in Engineering, ideally aiming for MEng/BEng.
- Machining or manufacturing knowledge and/or experience.
- Understanding of project management tools and techniques.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing or six sigma principles.
- Experience using CAD/CAM software (e.g., Dassault Catia)
- Knowledge of data processing software (e.g., Minitab, Matlab)
- Strong analytical skills with a focus for detail.
- Excellent communication and team working skills and a proactive approach to work.
