Experienced Structural Analysis Engineer
The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) organization is seeking an Experienced Structural Analysis Engineer to join the Air Vehicle Engineering team located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
A successful member of this team will understand and execute modifications and upgrades for the Bombers (B-1 and/or B-52), AWACS, E-7 USAF and ETS&S programs.
Position Responsibilities:
- Develops, integrates, and documents structural requirements to validate Airframe Stress design and Finite Element Modelling and Loadcase assessment
- Verifies structural integrity by defining requirements for development of analytical methods, finite element models/simulations and other analysis tools to develop the airframe structural environment, characteristics, and performance of the product
- Coordinates with other engineering groups to establish the product's environment
- Guides product design and verifies structural integrity by using analytical methods, including classical methods of structural analysis, finite element models/simulations and other analysis tools throughout the product lifecycle to develop the structural environment, characteristics and performance
- Understands industry best practices in airframe primary and secondary structure and loadpaths
- Develops test plans and configurations, supports test execution and analyzes/reports test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications
- Defines and documents certification and test results to substantiate for customers and regulatory agencies that requirements are satisfied
- Supports in-service products by investigating failures and analyzing improvements
- Works independently under general direction
- Works with customers and regulatory agencies to define and maintain certification processes that will ensure requirements are met
- Develops analytical processes/tools to improve effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the analysis and repair efforts
- Oversees compliance with methodology and processes for stress analysis and finite element modelling
- Investigate emerging technologies to develop future product designs to meet projected requirements
- Works under consultative direction
- Understands the unique challenges of working a Legacy program that was originally certified using 2D drawings, in contrast to a new development program which is purely Model Based
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)
- Experience in classical methods of structural analysis
- Experience with Finite Element Models (FEM)
- Strong written, verbal communications and presentation skills
- Able to independently construct, execute, review, and manage structural finite element models
- Ability to obtain U.S. Secret Clearance
- 5 or more years of experience in structural analysis
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Active U.S. Secret Clearance
- Experience with Hypermesh, Abaqus CAE, and/or Nastran
- Experience validating or verifying finite element model results
- Experience with structural design principles for aircraft primary structures (e.g., fatigue, damage tolerance, corrosion, stress analysis, statics, materials strength, material characteristics, and repair techniques)
- Experience with Aircraft Primary Structures on Boeing Commercial Derivatives – Commercial and/or Military applications (737, 747, 757, 767 & 777)
