Dimensional Engineering is used to identify requirements and objectives that are dimensional in nature. The candidate will apply the dimensional engineering process on programs and use variation analysis tools. Additionally, in this role, the candidate will help develop, maintain, and train dimensional engineering processes, tool use, and tolerance application (GD&T).
Position Responsibilities:
- Perform variation analysis using specialized software to determine effects of part tolerances, tool tolerances, locating methods, and assembly sequence
- Assist in selecting assembly and detail part datums and ensure datums are properly established by tooling or manufacturing process
- Assist in determining appropriate tolerance controls and calculating tolerance values that will achieve functional requirements and ease of assembly. Comply with the appropriate GD&T standards
- Assist in evaluating whether dimensional requirements are within manufacturing and assembly process capability
- Assist in the development of product dimensional requirements and document team decisions regarding dimensional control
- Assist the teams in identification of key characteristics and in the development of control plans for the key characteristics
- Review process control plans, quality plans, and inspection plans for appropriate levels of tolerance value verification
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
This position requires the ability to obtain US Secret Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship as a condition of employment. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment with understanding of determinate assembly methodologies
- Formal training and/or practical experience in the application and interpretation of GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
- Experience with variation analysis (1D or 3D) on structure, assembly approaches
- Experience with 3D variation analysis software (Siemens VSA)
- Experience with using NX/Teamcenter or CATIA/ENOVIA methods and tools
