AvionX Modular Avionics System Engineering Lead
The Boeing Company has an exciting opportunity for a Modular Avionics System Engineering Lead to lead the verification, validation, and certification strategy to deliver a verified and certified avionics product for aircraft platforms based in either Long Beach, CA or Plano, TX. We are rapidly expanding our Avionics Systems Engineering team consisting of engineers with avionics product experience.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead the systems engineering effort across the entire product lifecycle to ensure delivery of a verified and certified avionics product.
- Develop and own the integrated verification, validation, and certification strategy addressing hardware, firmware, and software aspects.
- Lead the functional decomposition activity of system requirements to include leading functional architecture decomposition activity and trades.
- Support the preparation and publication of test, analysis and inspection reports to show compliance to requirements.
- Support milestone gate reviews and technical meetings required as part of the lifecycle of the programs, including generating briefing materials to management and customers
- Interface with project/program team members, management, customer counterparts and technical staff to assist in defining and implementing the appropriate test strategies.
- Support related troubleshooting, root cause/corrective action investigation, and problem resolution.
- Lead Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and simulation efforts to support architecture validation, performance analysis, and verification traceability.
- Ensure requirements are decomposed, allocated, and traced to design, verification activities, and certification artifacts.
- Support milestone and gate reviews (e.g., PDR/CDR/DV/Qualification) and prepare briefing materials for program leadership, customers, and certification authorities.
- Ensure SE best practices, configuration management, quality, and safety considerations are embedded into design, verification and delivery processes.
Basic (Required) Experience:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry
- Experience with the system engineering development lifecycle (V-Model)
- Experience creating, decomposing, and allocating requirements and ensuring verification closure.
- Experience with Requirements Management Tools (ie DOORS)
- Practical MBSE experience and fluency with SysML/Cameo, Capella, or equivalent modeling tools
- Experience with Aircraft Avionics Systems
- Experience with Aircraft system flight operations and flight dynamics
- Experience with hardware and software development and processes
- 14+ years related systems engineering/avionics development experience
Desired Experience:
- Experience working in an environment with assigned tasks that drive to completion within a schedule
- Experience with the development of avionics HW, SW and FW
- Experience with ARP4754B, ARP4761, DO-178c, DO-254, DO-160 and DO-330 RTCA recommendations
- Experience with security/cyber considerations for avionics networks is a plus

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary pay range: $157,250 - $212,750

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a "U.S. Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. ยง120.15 is required. "U.S. Person" includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
