Associate Software Engineer - Developer

The Boeing Company is currently seeking Associate Software Engineers–Developers to support our P-8 Mission Systems Software team located in Kent, Washington. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space and Security Services (BDS) business organization.

In this position, you will be responsible for key capabilities such as weapons integration, sensor integration, data fusion, tactical data links, Operator Machine Interface (OMI), as well as the software execution environment for the platform, simulation and Trainer support software.

You'll be an integral part of supporting the Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) P-8 Poseidon program, which is the premier Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) platform for the US Navy and several international partners. Recent contract awards have enabled team expansion and growth. This franchise program is anticipated to continue to be a stable program for the foreseeable future.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Designs and develops Mission Systems, Simulation or Trainer Support software
  • Participates in use case development for software requirements
  • Develops and conducts unit and integration tests
  • Participates in peer reviews
  • Supports root cause analysis and correction for delivered products
  • Supports system test, aircraft delivery, and ground and flight-based test events

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance for which the US Government requires U.S. Citizenship. Ability to obtain Secret U.S. Security clearance (Post-Start).

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • 2+ years of Java (preferred), C++ or C programming language experience
  • 2+ years of development experience in Linux or Windows environments

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • Specific scripting languages: XML, Pearl, Python
  • Agile software development processes
  • Use case development
  • Protocols: Networking, Serial, Device I/O, Wireless Communication
  • Development of Training software and User Interface design
  • Troubleshooting H/W and S/W issues in a complex environment
  • Linux OS Support Experience (RHEL)
  • Installation and configuration of Linux OS
  • Startup and basic configuration of Virtual Machine and Virtual Network environments
  • Supporting as-run test reports and other contractual deliverables
  • Exposure to Object Oriented Design

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. Summary pay range for Associate Level: $92,650 - $125,350.

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a "U.S. Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. "U.S. Person" includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim U.S. Secret Clearance Pre-Start and final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
