Av Communications Engineer

Role Summary

We're seeking an AV Communications Engineer to lead system-level design and integration of advanced autonomy, connectivity, and telematics systems for our fleet.

Responsibilities

• Define and own the end-to-end system architecture for autonomous vessel platforms, spanning connectivity, machine automation, telemetry, and data logging.
• Translate operational and customer requirements into system-level specifications, ensuring alignment across hardware, software, and communications.
• Lead design reviews and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure technical feasibility and design intent.
• Drive integration of telematics, communications, and sensor subsystems with onboard and back-office platforms.
• Evaluate and select components, suppliers, and technologies to meet performance, cost, and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct system-level validation, field testing, and certification, initially for the U.S. and later the international markets.
• Manage technical risks, perform root cause analysis, and oversee design improvements throughout the product lifecycle.
• Partner with industry stakeholders, standards bodies, and vendors to influence and align with evolving AV technologies.

Qualifications

• Have 7+ years of experience in systems engineering, architecture, or design for autonomous vehicles, sensors, telematics, or complex hardware/software systems.
• Bring deep expertise in connectivity technologies (cellular, eSIM, antennas, telemetry, infotainment, etc.)
• Have experience defining system requirements, interfaces, and specifications for complex multi-domain platforms.
• Excel at cross-functional collaboration with engineering, operations, and external partners.
• Familiar with regulatory and industry standards (FCC, CE, GSMA, PTCRB, cybersecurity, etc.)
• Skilled at managing suppliers and leading technical teams through design, validation, and certification.
• Communicate clearly across technical and non-technical audiences.
• Energized by solving complex system integration challenges in emerging technology domains.
