Job Description

The Opportunity

Are you someone who's both curious about people and passionate about data? Our People team is looking for a HR Data & Insights Analyst in our People Services team based in Mount Waverley, VIC.

At BlueScope, our people are our strength, and it's the insights that help us to better understand, support, and grow them. In this newly created opportunity, you'll play a key role in shaping how we use data to understand our workforce and the impact of the work we do together. You'll promote accurate and efficient HR analytics by cleaning, exploring, and transforming information into meaningful insights that help our people and our business succeed.

You'll thrive on bringing structure to complexity, designing data models, developing dashboards, and uncovering insights that help teams and leaders make evidence-based decisions. You'll partner with individuals in the People function and stakeholders across various business units, combining your technical expertise with a collaborative, problem-solving approach. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a future-focused analytics function, explore the use and potential of AI, and create reporting that's accurate, automated and informative.

What Will You Do?

Joining a supportive and collaborative team, you'll help shape how HR data supports our leaders today and as it evolves into the future. You'll support the delivery of reliable insights across areas such as diversity, recruitment, performance, and remuneration, and play an important part in meeting our Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) reporting obligations. You'll also:

  • design and build scalable data models using HR data from systems like SAP and recruitment/performance platforms
  • develop clear, accurate dashboards and reports that provide insight into workforce trends and priorities
  • partner with system owners and stakeholders to ensure data integrity and consistency
  • use AI and predictive analytics to strengthen insights and simplify reporting
  • support the automation of key HR reports and the transition to Power BI

More About You

You'll bring a blend of technical ability and a genuine interest in people and business outcomes. You're someone who digs deeper, questions results, and enjoys finding the "why" behind the data. You'll also have:

  • experience in Power BI and Excel, with the ability to create data models and dynamic dashboards
  • proficiency in transforming and integrating large datasets from HR systems (or similar) like SAP or Workday
  • confidence working with raw data including cleaning, checking, and validating for accuracy and consistency
  • the ability to translate data into insights and stories that engage and inform different audiences, from HR teams to business leaders
  • a collaborative, curious mindset and a readiness to learn and innovate, including exploring the use of AI
  • experience or interest in WGEA reporting and ensuring high-quality, compliant workforce data
