This role is part of Enterprise Technology (ET), where we're developing the digital infrastructure needed to build the road to space, with an emphasis on digital capabilities required to advance Blue Origin's mission. Enterprise Technology is the center of excellence for digital technology at Blue Origin, providing oversight and governance to align technology and business strategies.

We are seeking a motivated Software Development Engineer II to join Blue Origin's team developing manufacturing automation and execution to drive efficiency throughout the factory. In this role, you will be a key member of a team supporting manufacturing by developing software solutions enabling real-time analysis and decision-making. We are constantly innovating in the ways we are automating and accelerating the delivery of products using groundbreaking software and hardware technologies. We use the latest AWS, Java, React, and GenAI platforms to build distributed, highly available systems to achieve our goals.

Responsibilities

  • Work as a fullstack-capable engineer to develop and support applications that enable manufacturing teams to efficiently implement, track, and streamline build processes
  • Leverage AI tools to enhance software development, improve automation, and drive innovation in enterprise applications.
  • Contribute to the design, implementation, and deployment of successful enterprise-scale systems and services in support of operations and the businesses they support
  • Create quality technical and user-facing documentation
  • Recommend and implement improvements to Operational Excellence metrics (examples: system latency reduction, on-call remedy automation, and sprint task management)
  • Take ownership, step in to help team members as needed, collaborate with team members to identify, and fix technical problems
  • Participate in on-call rotation for services supported by our team

Qualifications

  • BA/BS in computer science, information science, or a related field, or equivalent experience in practice
  • 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience, writing production code in at least one programming language
  • Strong understanding of software engineering principles and the ability to translate domain expertise into applications
  • Either Java or JavaScript / TypeScript as a primary coding language
  • Experience developing APIs and building applications on them in a production environment
  • Experience with version control (Gitlab / Github) and CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with unit and e2e testing on Java or React
  • Familiarity with SQL and database systems and use of REST or GraphQL APIs
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships through outstanding interpersonal and communication skills

Desired

  • Familiarity with Angular or Python coding language
  • Previous use of AWS, Azure, or other cloud infrastructures

Compensation Range for WA applicants is $134,961.00 - $188,945.40. Other site ranges may differ.
