Multiple positions available across our Business Units. You will be matched with an appropriate engineering team based on your skillset and experience and our current business needs.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate as part of a hardworking team to address material challenges in various spaceflight systems.
  • Review production drawings for large, complex assemblies to ensure optimal material selection and process implementation.
  • Develop, document, and optimize manufacturing processes for both metallic and non-metallic hardware.
  • Select materials and define design requirements to meet engineering, structural, and program goals.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including quality, design, structures, thermal, integration, and manufacturing, to optimize overall system design and performance.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree or higher in materials science and engineering, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, metallurgical engineering, polymer engineering, welding engineering, geology/geosciences and mining engineering or related field.
  • Will have earned their degree within the last year and able to start by Fall 2026.
  • Broad experience in metallic materials such as super alloys, aluminums/titaniums and their associated processing (e.g. forging, casting, forming, brazing, welding, etc.)
  • Non-metallic (e.g. o-rings, seals, lubricants) hardware.
  • Material characterization and failure modes (corrosion, failure investigation, thermal degradation, etc.)
  • Breaking down complex problems into traceable tasks and concisely communicating project status.
  • Relevant internship/co-op and/or hands-on experience that demonstrate development of both technical skills as well as leadership qualities.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and strengthen our culture of inclusion.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team on rapid development programs.
  • Flexible and adaptable mindset.
  • Self-driven with the ability to seek out requirements with minimal direction.

Desired:

  • MS in materials science and engineering, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, metallurgical engineering, polymer engineering, welding engineering, geology/geosciences and mining engineering or related technical subject area.
  • Experience with friction stir welding and spin forming.
  • Knowledge of mining and geophysical exploration.
  • Familiarity with standard methods for testing mechanical properties (including fatigue, fracture, creep, stress rupture) of metallic and soft materials.

Compensation Range for: CA applicants is $78,943.00-$110,519.85; WA applicants is $78,943.00-$110,519.85. Other site ranges may differ.

Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical.
