This opportunity with Black & Veatch offers the chance to collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams within the Power Providers Market Sector, supporting Advanced Power Generation (APG) projects and building critical infrastructure for today's and tomorrow's challenges. Civil professionals contribute to site development efforts, including grading and drainage, erosion control, roadways, fencing, and underground utilities. The Virtual Design & Data Solutions (VDDS) Junior Engineering Technician plays a key role in supporting the development of high quality engineering deliverables for these complex infrastructure projects. Under close supervision, this position performs technical tasks requiring basic knowledge of engineering principles and practices, with a focus on creating and modifying site development plans using industry standard design tools, such as Autodesk Civil 3D, Bentley MicroStation, and Bentley Open Plant Modeler.
- Performs duties at an entry-level capacity - Works under close supervision - Supports engineering teams with technical tasks - Applies basic engineering principles and practices - Uses digital tools and design software (e.g., CAD, BIM, 3D tools) - Follows standardized procedures - Assists in the creation, modification, and maintenance of: technical documentation, engineering drawings, and project deliverables - Builds working knowledge of standards, systems, document control, departmental guides, and BV policies and procedures - Ensures accuracy and compliance of deliverables by following the BV Quality Program - Demonstrates attention to detail and supports continuous improvement and change management initiatives - Learns tools and applications needed to update and modify less complex deliverables using various design inputs - Identifies internal client needs and develops a basic understanding of external client priorities and drivers - Proactively seeks out and shares knowledge of new technologies and processes
Diploma or Certificate preferred. Associate Degree in Drafting or an Engineering Design Related Technology preferred. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
This position would require working in a typical office environment. The position may entail prolonged periods of sitting and computer use, and the professional would ideally be able to maintain focus and attention to detail throughout the workday. The position may also be require physical tasks during site visits, including crouching, grasping, and standing/walking for extended periods of time. Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based upon manager discretion, job performance and work assignments.
