Student Support Program Manager

Goldfarb School of Nursing is looking for a Student Support Program Manager to serve as a primary advocate and resource within the Disability Services unit, managing a caseload of students who require or are seeking academic accommodations. This role will act as the central contact for student referrals to the assistance program and help to connect students to necessary support services.

With a legacy beginning in 1902, Goldfarb School of Nursing at Barnes-Jewish College has a strong tradition of educating health care professionals.

Goldfarb School of Nursing is located on the Washington University Medical Campus in St. Louis and is affiliated with Barnes-Jewish Hospital, with a second site at Missouri Baptist Medical Center. Goldfarb is a private nursing college that enrolls over 650 students in its baccalaureate, masters and doctoral degree programs. Goldfarb has nationally recognized educational facilities with state-of-the-art classrooms, lecture halls and sophisticated Clinical Simulation Institute labs with patient simulation manikins and exam rooms that provide high-tech, advanced nursing care experiences.

Goldfarb School of Nursing at Barnes-Jewish College is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and is approved by the Missouri State Board of Nursing and Higher Education Commission.

Role Purpose

Provides support for students at risk of attrition and/or who may need support based on a variety of identified disabilities or problems. This position maintains student support functions and operational administration including but not limited to, coordination of disability resources, strategies for student support, resource advocacy and offerings for mental health awareness and student assistance. This position facilitates student success and/or support plans for students who request it as a confidential resource. The role determines appropriate and reasonable academic accommodations for students with diagnosed disabilities, oversees accommodated testing operations, and links students at risk of attrition with community and college services.

Responsibilities

Engages with students to determine disability-related accommodations and resources for establishing opportunities and assist department in determining appropriateness of accommodations and recommendations, including Adaptive/Assistive Technologies and campus/community resources. Informs, instructs, and supports faculty, staff, and administration in their provision of, and responsibility to provide, equitable access for disabled students and promote inclusive campus planning.

Coordinates processes and experiences which provide students support to achieve their educational goals including advising strategy, student support referrals and early alerts/interventions, leave of absences, compassion/scholarship funding, and other initiatives, processes, and procedures.

Provides awareness campaigns and experiences as well as community resources on topics impacting student success. Develops safety plans and/or referrals for services experiencing domestic/dating violence and serves as a confidential resource for students reporting concerns. Facilitates regular mental screening tools/assessments with supporting resources and referrals for mental health, housing, childcare, food, healthcare, domestic/dating violence.

Reviews diagnostic documentation and meets with students to determine reasonable and appropriate accommodations in accordance with federal, state, departmental, and College policies, procedures, regulations, and laws. Maintains regular contact and follow-up with students registered with Disability Services; develops and maintains relationships with campus partners to best connect students to beneficial campus resources, and communicates with faculty to serve as advocate for students

Provides daily administrative oversight and leadership of the testing center operations and exam-related accommodations, and of auxiliary services and accommodations. Identifies and develops practices to support onboarding and retention as it pertains to students with disabilities, at-risk factors, and life challenges. This includes creation of peer-lead initiatives, early alert/interventions, development of online support resources, review of compassion funds and/or scholarships, grants or other funding applications, and enhance partnerships between internal and external support areas.

Education: Master's Degree

Experience: 2-5 years

Preferred Requirements

Education: Doctorate

Experience: 5-10 years
