Headquartered in Singapore, Bitdeer operates globally with a diversified 3 GW energy portfolio, and deploys Bitcoin mining and HPC datacenters in the United States, Bhutan, Norway, Canada, Malaysia, and Ethiopia.
We are seeking a motivated Network Engineer to support the design, build, and operational readiness of a state-of-the-art AI datacenter network located in Tydal, Norway. This role requires strong hands-on network engineering experience, familiarity with modern datacenter networking concepts, and the ability to work closely with senior engineers, architects, vendors, and local site teams. You will help ensure the network is deployed in alignment with design requirements, operational standards, and applicable local requirements, while supporting the ongoing reliability, performance, and maintenance of the network once the datacenter is operational.
What You Will Be Responsible For
Design and Planning
- Support network architects and senior engineers in reviewing, refining, and validating scalable, high-bandwidth network architecture for AI/ML workloads.
- Assist with network designs based on modern datacenter fabric principles, including low-latency, high-availability Spine-Leaf and Clos-style architectures.
- Help ensure network designs, configurations, and equipment specifications align with applicable Norwegian and EU standards, including data protection and critical infrastructure requirements.
- Assist in identifying hardware and software requirements, including high-density switches, high-speed optical interconnects, and network operating systems.
- Prepare and maintain network schematics, diagrams, configuration records, and technical documentation.
Implementation and Deployment (Oversight)
- Support the physical build, staging, cabling, configuration, and testing of network infrastructure at the Tydal site.
- Work closely with senior network engineers, local vendors, and datacenter construction teams to coordinate installation and deployment activities.
- Assist with implementation plans, maintenance windows, and change control procedures.
- Perform network configuration tasks under the guidance of senior engineers, including switches, routers, firewalls, and monitoring systems.
- Participate in post-implementation validation and performance testing to confirm the network meets design and operational requirements.
Operations and Maintenance (Ownership)
- Support day-to-day operation and maintenance of the datacenter network after the site becomes operational.
- Monitor network performance, availability, alerts, logs, and telemetry systems for high-speed datacenter fabrics.
- Troubleshoot network issues, perform root cause analysis, and escalate complex incidents to senior engineers or architects as needed.
- Follow standard operating procedures for network maintenance, incident response, configuration changes, and documentation.
- Help maintain a secure, stable, and highly available network environment for AI/ML and datacenter workloads.
How You Will Stand Out
- 4–7 years of network engineering experience, preferably with exposure to datacenter or large enterprise network environments.
- Hands-on experience with Ethernet switching, routing, VLANs, firewalls, and network troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with high-speed network environments, including 25G/100G/400G Ethernet, is preferred.
- Working knowledge of routing protocols and datacenter networking concepts such as BGP, OSPF, EVPN/VXLAN, Spine-Leaf architecture, and IP fabrics.
- Experience supporting network security technologies such as firewalls, access control, segmentation, intrusion detection, or intrusion prevention systems.
- Interest in AI/ML infrastructure and an understanding of how high-throughput, low-latency networking supports compute workloads.
- Ability to follow structured change control, documentation, and incident response processes.
- Experience with network monitoring, logging, and telemetry tools.
- Basic scripting or automation experience using Python, Ansible, or similar tools is a plus.
- Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, JNCIS, Arista ACE Associate/Professional, or equivalent experience are helpful.
- Experience working in datacenter environments or with Nordic infrastructure providers is a plus.
- Fluency in English is required for technical documentation; Norwegian or Swedish language skills are a strong asset.
