Operations Maintenance Equipment Technician

We are seeking an Operations Maintenance Equipment Technician responsible for the safe operation, preventive maintenance and repair of Material Handling Equipment (MHE) in our warehouse.

This role ensures the reliability of equipment through routine inspections, effective troubleshooting, proper battery maintenance, and timely repairs, while upholding all safety standards and complying with OSHA and other regulatory requirements. This position will report to the VP of Operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to all safety policies, procedures, and OSHA requirements.
  • Perform preventive maintenance (PM) and corrective repairs on forklifts, ride-on pallet jacks, electric pallet jacks, reach trucks, order pickers, cherry pickers, scissor lifts, and other warehouse equipment, including:
  • Inspecting, adjusting, or replacing belts, chains, and motors
  • Troubleshooting electrical controls, PLC systems, and low-voltage AC/DC systems
  • Checking, draining, and refilling oil levels
  • Performing manufacturer-recommended safety checks
  • Maintain hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems such as transmissions, drive units, braking systems, masts, steering, and suspension components.
  • Conduct electrical testing and repairs on motors, motor starters, relays, and contactors.
  • Support industrial battery and charger maintenance, including:
  • Battery changes and charging
  • Repairing charger plugs and tips
  • Watering and washing batteries
  • Equalizing charges
  • Acid spill cleanup and safety compliance
  • Maintain accurate service records of equipment.
  • Ensure tools and equipment are in safe working order; maintain housekeeping in all work areas.
  • Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns to minimize downtime and maintain operations.
  • Perform other related duties and facility support tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Technical school or equivalent (2 years) preferred in a warehouse setting.
  • Minimum three (3) of experience in forklift, pallet jack, aerial lift, or warehouse equipment maintenance; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Strong knowledge of warehouse MHE systems (electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and safety regulations.
  • Proficiency with diagnostic tools and electrical testing equipment.
  • Effective communication, teamwork, and mentoring abilities.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.

Certifications/ Licenses:

  • Valid state Driver's License.
  • MHE manufacturer certification (e.g., Raymond) preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, climb, and handle tools.
  • Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 100 lbs.
  • Specific vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions

  • Exposure to hot, cold, humid, or dusty conditions, moving equipment, and occasional fumes.
  • May be required to work in confined spaces or at heights (aerial lift/scissor lift use).
  • Must be able to work non-traditional hours, including nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts.
  • Occasional travel to other facilities for training or operational support, such as Pacific Gourmet.
  • Noise level is generally moderate.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Onsite Reporting

Location: Brisbane, CA

Compensation: $35 - $40/hr. (DOE), Full-Time, Hourly/ Non-Exempt
