Flutter UK & Ireland are the UKI region of Flutter Entertainment. They unite a dozen brands including powerhouses Paddy Power, Betfair, Tombola and Sky Betting & Gaming, bringing together hundreds of teams and thousands of colleagues, who create trusted entertainment for millions of customers every week.
The position holder has engineering skills and a passion for technology. You have experience with technologies such as Java, dependency injection, inversion of control, application servers (Tomcat, Jetty) and event streaming (Kafka). The position holder need to have exceptional technical and problem-solving skills and a positive, results driven attitude.
Core technical competencies:
a) Have good knowledge of secure coding and best practices
b) Proactively identify insecure coding issues and plan remediation
c) Make sure there is proper documentation for owned components
d) Minimise manual processes through automation
e) Suggest improvements to the methodology in use
f) Be familiar with multiple software development methodologies and actively contribute to team and group meetings
g) Be able to identify common concerns to encourage code reuse
Software development, continuous improvement and
a) Work independently on tasks without assistance
b) Think about multiple solutions when faced with a task; express pros and cons when choosing an approach
c) Have strong skills in your relevant primary programming language – you'll also be able to interact with technologies outside your primary area
d) Implement robust solutions that work under load and offer performance
e) Analyse potential improvements on code
f) Creatively reapply existing learnings to new areas
g) Participating in code reviews
h) Improve monitoring and alerting
i) Assess the success of any changes made

a) Demonstrate a good understanding of how the components you own live and interact with other components in the PPB ecosystem

a) This position involves working with and being part of a cross-skilled development team and will have regular contact with teams looking after other aspects of PPB products & tools.
