Role Overview:

We are looking for a dedicated, self-motivated, technical driven professional to work in a team of engineers developing highly available enterprise products. Our continued business success and growth demand a lot from our technology, including transaction volumes that surpass many of the world's leading financial institutions. Our engineers are committed to find the best solutions to complex technical challenges together with professional team members. The successful candidate will have exceptional technical and problem solving skills, with a positive, results driven attitude.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

  • Software creation, unit testing, adhering to standards and best practices;
  • Proactively identify and address bugs, technical debt, and reliability risks;
  • Write technical documentation that shares knowledge effectively;
  • Contribute to technical discussions and design reviews, implementing solutions aligned with agreed architecture standards;
  • Work in an Agile environment;
  • Collaborate closely with peers, cross-functional teams, and product stakeholders to translate requirements into clear, maintainable solutions;
  • Produce production-ready code independently on well-defined tasks, and collaboratively on more complex or ambiguous initiatives;
  • Provide guidance to junior colleagues.

Key Working Relationships: This position involves working within a cross-skilled development team, and having regular contact with teams looking after other aspects of Fanduel products & tools.

Skills, Capabilities & Experience Required: Essential:

  • Very strong Java skills - Java 8+
  • Excellent knowledge of Spring, SpringBoot
  • Understanding of SQL / NoSQL databases
  • Experience with RESTful Web Services (building APIs)
  • Exposure to ORM frameworks (e.g. Hibernate)
  • Understanding Message Services (AWS SQS/SNS or Kafka)
  • Hands-on experience with unit testing/mocking frameworks (e.g. JUnit, Mockito)
  • Exposure with build tools (e.g. Gradle, Maven)
  • Exposure in source code management (GIT) and code version control (Github, Gitlab, Bitbucket)
  • Good understanding of design patterns
  • Familiarity with analysis & monitoring tools (e.g. DataDog, Splunk, Kibana)
  • Future Ready: Demonstrating curiosity and openness toward AI and emerging technologies, with a willingness to continuously learn, adapt, and share knowledge

Desirable:

  • Understanding of database migration tools (e.g Liquibase, Flyway)
  • Familiarity with Cloud Computing (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • General interest in DevOps topics (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Knowledge of caching systems (e.g. Redis, Hazelcast);
  • Experience working in CI/CD setup (Buildkite, Jenkins, TeamCity)
