Design Assurance Intern

Under supervision of the Design Assurance Leader, the Design Assurance Intern will work in a variety of assignments to provide general support to the group. The intern's assignments will make a positive contribution to Pharmacy Automation as well as give the intern opportunities to gain "hands on" work experience with the intent of training the intern for the potential of starting a successful career after graduation.

This is a full-time internship at BD's Durham, NC location. Interns are expected to work 40 hours per week during the summer while not in school.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide vital day-to-day support to Design Assurance, Engineering, and cross-functional teams, becoming an essential collaborator in our product development journey.
  • Organize and maintain critical design inputs, outputs, and traceability artifacts that form the backbone of our quality systems.
  • Assist in the preparation, review, and organization of verification and validation documentation and objective evidence.
  • Help maintain impeccable design and quality documentation that adheres to BD's comprehensive Quality Management System procedures.
  • Support data collection and analysis for product issues, nonconformances, and improvement initiatives
  • Work alongside Design Assurance Engineers to track open actions, risks, and deliverables that ensure our products are ready for release.
  • Immerse yourself in fundamental quality assurance principles including change control, documentation management, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Regulatory and other departments to understand how quality integrates throughout the entire product lifecycle.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited University/College Engineering program.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Must be able to commute to BD Durham, NC office.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Aspiring Junior or Senior in an accredited University/College Engineering program.
