Field Service Engineer

Home-based Full Time position with daily travel to customer sites in the Rhode Island, CT, MA Regions. The Field Service Engineer is a remote field-based position with daily travel locations within the assigned territory. Ideal candidates will reside within a 30-mile radius of where the position is based. 5% overnight travel possible and a valid driver's license is required.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive remote and on-site technical support for BD Pyxis automated dispensing systems in healthcare facilities, respond to work orders, diagnose issues, and resolve hardware and software problems while maintaining ownership of service tickets and properly documenting all activities.
  • Implement preventive maintenance programs, provide calibration services, and offer support to Sales and Implementation teams while maintaining accurate small parts inventory and following approved inventory control procedures.
  • Deliver efficient and timely field services to all BD customers, including installations, in-servicing, repairs, and sales support while demonstrating proficiency in solving technical problems and following proper customer complaint handling procedures.
  • Maintain solid understanding of corporate and service department policies, including Medical Device Reporting requirements and DHA/DoD facility standards, while properly prioritizing work according to customer support agreements.
  • Commit to ongoing training and self-development to enhance product knowledge and technical skills, attend management-approved seminars and training sessions with the goal of advancing to the next career level within 2-3 years.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma and 3 years of combined Hardware/Software/IT experience supporting both proprietary and standard applications required.
  • Must have 24x7 on-call experience in a customer-facing or field service environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with computer electronics, Windows operating systems, and networking is required.
  • Ability to work within defined processes and methodologies with minimal supervision is essential.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and meet BD's automotive safety standards.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Prior experience working as a hospital pharmacy technician or in a hospital Bio-Med environment, a plus
  • Associates degree
  • Prior military Bio-Med experience, a plus
  • Prior Automated Teller Machine (ATM) experience, a plus
  • Upon hire, must provide proof of and maintain current immunizations and obtain additional immunizations appropriate for the facility which enables access to customer sites in order to perform crucial job functions.
  • Weightlifting requirement: minimum 70 pounds
