Machine Learning Engineer

BBVA is a global company with over 160 years of history that operates in more than 25 countries serving more than 80 million customers. We are more than 121,000 professionals working in multidisciplinary teams and with diverse profiles such as financial, legal experts, data scientists, developers, engineers, or designers.

What We Are Looking For?

The Machine Learning Engineer works within teams that build products heavily based on artificial intelligence, working jointly with Data Scientists and primarily has the task of scaling and strengthening artificial intelligence models to function in software production systems. You can use various programming languages, although the most commonly used is Python. Within the Python ecosystem for artificial intelligence, you will use frameworks and libraries (such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, etc.) so it will be very important that you know how they work and how to apply the different types of artificial intelligence algorithms.

It is also key for this role to understand statistics, probability, calculus, and applied linear algebra to data science and artificial intelligence.

Responsibilities:

  • Redisign and optimize existing models to improve their performance and scalability in cloud environments.
  • Refine large language models, ensuring their alignment with specific business objectives.
  • Deploy models in production and ensure their optimal performance.
  • Work closely with data scientists, data developers, and business stakeholders to integrate AI solutions into the platform.

Functions:

  • Apply optimization and scaling techniques to improve processing capacity and reduce operational costs on cloud platforms.
  • Evaluate and redesign existing ML models to ensure they meet current standards of efficiency and performance.
  • Manage the complete lifecycle of ML models, from development to production, including testing, deployment, and stabilization.

Challenges:

  • Ensure that ML models, especially LLMs, can scale efficiently in cloud environments. This includes effectively managing resources to handle increasing data volumes without compromising performance.
  • Reduce operational costs associated with training and deploying complex models. This involves optimizing the use of cloud resources, such as computing and storage, and applying modeling techniques that minimize resource requirements without sacrificing model quality.
  • Continuously integrate the latest innovations in Gen AI and LLM technologies within the company’s existing infrastructure. This requires staying up-to-date with the latest research and adapting existing applications to leverage new capabilities effectively.

Profiles We Would Like To Know:

  • Bachelor’s or Engineering degree in computational systems or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in developing programming languages preferably Python, Scala, or Java with solid programming bases.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in productivizing ML models.
  • Knowledge of application architecture and distributed computing.
  • Knowledge of Data Analytics and Machine Learning.
  • Knowledge of Continuous Integration: DevOps: GIT, Jenkins.
  • Advanced SQL knowledge.

By integrating into our team, you could access the following benefits: superior banking benefits, life insurance, superior vacations, retirement plan, growth opportunities, extended parental leave for mothers and fathers, exclusive promotions for employees, exclusive loans for employees, sports membership, participation in bank games, and many more benefits that will improve your experience with us!

In case you need any reasonable adjustments* in your selection process, communicate it to the recruiter in the first contact.

At BBVA, we believe that having a diverse team makes us a better bank. For this reason, we actively support diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunities, regardless of your ethnic or national origin, sex, age, religion, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, social status, health condition, opinions, marital status, or any other that undermines human dignity and aims to nullify or undermine the rights and freedoms of people. We are confident that by cultivating a collaborative and inclusive work environment, we will show the best of ourselves.

*Reasonable adjustments comprise the modifications and/or adaptations that the company can make during your selection process to enable you to carry out the process adequately.
