We are looking to make new paths and create new opportunities. Today. For tomorrow. For us. Join the #TeamOEBB!
We are responsible for the availability, safety, and economic operation of telecommunications networks as well as control, safety, and telematics systems in the Rail Systems division.
As a System Engineer for IT-based Railway Safety Technology, you will make a fundamental contribution to the design of central safety systems for railway infrastructure. With your work, you enable the extensive expansion of the environmentally friendly and state-of-the-art railway for future generations. The challenges of the intensive use of modern computer- and network-based systems in railway safety technology await you! Contribute your skills and experience to the development of the next generation of railway safety technology!
Your job
- You are responsible for the new or further development of IT-based safety-critical systems for railway infrastructure technology, in particular the European Train Control System (ETCS) train control system.
- You are responsible for specifying the specifications (application cases/functions) as the basis for the system development or further development of computer-based railway safety technology, taking into account the requirements of the operation, operation management, and strategic system architecture.
- As the technical interface between all functional subsystems, you coordinate their integration, ensure the interface specifications, and ensure their integration into the supersystem landscape.
- You check the requirement specifications of the delivery industry, accompany them in the technical system development process, define system acceptance criteria, and carry out the acceptance of the systems.
- You represent the department in international standardization bodies such as TSI CCS in connection with ETCS, as well as actively participate in international working groups for the European standardization of railway technology.
- After the system has gone into operation, you take over the systemic responsibility and support the operation in critical failures (e.g., safety, availability) by analysis, measures definition, and communication with the system manufacturers.
- Your tasks also include the creation of system-related documentation (e.g., maintenance, presentation, training, deployment planning), supporting the procurement in the creation of technical tender documents, and conducting system-related training courses on a regular basis.
Your profile
- You have a completed university degree or technical training (e.g., computer science, electrical engineering, telecommunications or similar) and ideally already have experience with safety-critical systems, particularly in the context of train control and ETCS.
- You are familiar with the specifics of the development and deployment of IT-based safety-critical systems as well as topics related to IT networks and IT security.
- Independent and initiative-driven work in complex project and process landscapes is a matter of course for you; you bring a high willingness to learn.
- Your strengths include analytical thinking with a structured approach, team skills, reliability, and resilience - complemented by social competence and empathy.
- Negotiating secure English skills as well as routine handling of English-language documents round off your profile.
